Sorry for this I did do a quick search but couldn't find the anwer :( .

Both the ogre club and the longsword are one handed weapons and both give a special effect. Now I know if I use the ogre club with anything else I lose its special ability and it is just a hand weapon.

So my question is can I combine the ogre club and cathayan longsword to get the longswords bonuses and one extra attack for having two one handed weapons?

now im not entirely sure on this, but i think the awnser is no.

to confer a +1 attack bonus, you must use 2 hand weapons. in this incident you are not using 2 hand weapons, but a hand weapon ( ogre club after being used with another weapon ) and a cathayen longsword.

as far as i know, this will give the bonuses of a cathayen longsword, yet nothing else.

hope that helped, creme egg

Thanks for the answer creme egg. I'm coming to this from a 40k background so the answer is easy from that rules set.

Its the difference in the wording for the two weapons that has me asking this question. The Ogre club being very clear about using it with another one-handed weapon while the longsword is not. They even cover in the rulebook using a pistol with a hand weapon.

So I guess that I will have to go along with your answer on this creme egg as it isn't stated anywhere that i can get the extra attack.

When asking 'which is better', the simple answer is the longsword. Basically all the ogre club gives you is armor piercing. The longsword gives you that PLUS +1 WS, +1 IN.

The thing to consider though is cost. While the ogre club isn't as good as a longsword, it is free.

As far as I know though, this thread is really an irrelevancy because you lose your ogre club when you buy any other weapon. For instance, with maneaters (who come with ogre clubs) if you buy a longsword, you lose the ogre club and the model is now equipped with a longsword and handweapon (everyone counts as being armed with a handweapon). The only bonuses gained from this is the effect of the longsword, since you must be equipped with two HAND WEAPONS to gain an additional attack. In combat now, you can choose to either attack with your hand weapon (no bonuses), or your longsword (+1 WS, +1 IN, AP).

Hope this clears things up!!
