Default Dark Heresy Warhammer 40K RPG Demo Available

I'm not sure if this has already been posted elsewhere but Black Industries have posted a demo of the new Warhammer 40K role-playing game they're bringing out in February. It's an introductory adventure along with enough of the basic rules to enable you to play it. They've also posted a flash trailer for it.

You can find it here: http://www.blackindustries.com/?temp...40K-sh-booklet

Hard to say.
The demo is too limited to give any idea how the whole system will turn out.

The system looks very similar to the new Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay system. Though it will be interesting to see how automatic weaponry and the like play out.

I have found that Black Industry rules for WFRP are better than 1st edition but they skimp a little on background.

I would imagine the same will be true for the WH40K RPG. Solid rules set but you need to fork out a ton of cash for all the extra supplements

I agree about the background- but the supplements are very good- ive got a few of the WHFRP books and I dont even play the game- the Brettonian one, for example, is very interesting- given the scope of the 40k universe, and how individual locations are usually far more sketchily fleshed out than the Old World of WHFB the Dark Heresy sourcebooks should be fascinating

In a way the problem with 1st edition WFRP was that it was too genorous. If you bought the core rule book and City of Chaos supplement (a source book for Middenheim and an adventure to go with it) then you had enough to keep your PC's occupied with for a long time, in just one city....

While this was great for gaming it did mean that it was hard for GW to make money and ultimatly if a business isn't making money they can't supply the product. Hence why WFRP was sold off and became a sad endangered creature.

So I guess having to pay a little extra for supplements at least means WFRP will survive with continual material being produced rather than burning out quickly.
