About the Squats, yes it is possible, but likely, the Imperium won't use it, coz it's "evil" xenos junk... However, I think the Ad.Mech. would surely investigate if it had priority, however, they are all busy with the necron worlds...
The squat technology would surely be good for the Imperium.

On a similar note, I am thinking about letting my DIY chapter Legio Nemesis play with non-STC data because I bet the Imperium ignores a lot of useful information because they are all STC-huggers... They won't use data that isn't in STC format...
Kinda like files for Macs and Windows...
The idea is that the Legio found some kind of code, which translates certain data in normal stuff. They work the code out and begin translating human non-STC data in ancient hive cities and overgrown death worlds.(their travels with rogue traders).
They discover somewhere some old data on usage of Necrodermis(Just plain strong metal), and begin using it...
They get stuck in a strange galactic storm which accelates time, and voila, the necrodermis is assimilated in them...

Fluff in short without polishing and clarifications...
Here's the polished version http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ad.php?t=54731

That's a misconception. Either one of two things have happened; either the Squats have not only been eaten but written out entirely, therefore resulting in no technology for you, or they were conquered by the Tyranids, in which case the survivors became the Demiurg and probably took back all the neat junk after the 'nids left anyway.

I'm affraid I haven't been very active in this thread for a long time.
Anyway, the imperium probably wouldn't risk attacking a planet still controlled by tyranids for xeno technology that night not even be there. There would be no point in it. Therefore, any surviving technology would probably have deteriated by now.

I tend to agree with you both, except I wasn't planning to have the Imperium seek out the Xeno tech, but my burgeoning Sorceror/daemon prince in my chaos fluff....errr...list.

Eh. Yeah, its probably better to leave the Squats be. If I need some fluff high tech items I can just say that they are relics of the[ INSERT VAGUELY MYSTIC, ANCIENT AND ALIENESQUE NAME HERE. AND NO, YOU CAN'T USE THE VORLONS.]

So theres something I've been wondering about pretty much every fluff master here: sure we know what were talking about, but are we able to follow someone else, roll with whats going on, and maintain as much of the lfuff we know of as possible?

I speak of RP's and am wondering if our knowledge, as good as its supposed to be, is capable of helping us in the places where that knowledge is truly put to the test...

(It would be interesting to see just how many of us can do it, if you ask me anyway.:shifty: )

Are us fluffmasters, with what we know, able to use that to roleplay or are we just able to explain fluff? (Simply, can we use what we know or only quote it...)

I would love to try, but I'll admit a lot of 40K fluff (less so with Fantasy) is very battle orientated, and the races are not at all friendly towards each other. Both of these swing against what is traditionally taken as the sci-fi roleplaying attitude. The setting is quite restrictive as far as RPs go, and given that a lot of the background knowledge to the universe is only available to the higher-ups (of most races), it'd be difficult to apply it.

I'd love to see it try to work, though. I'm up for RPing if you can wait for me to ponder my posts long and hard.

I definatley think we can. I for one put my fluff knowledge into any piece of fluff im reading and evaluating. I think the members of our class do the same (or I would like to think so). I mean for example, Xerxes fluff is very well written, with no glaring fluff errors of any kind. So theres some proof for you right there.

Would love to show the inner conflicts between the Imperial institutions, and of course my favorite Imperial citizens, rogue traders and mercenaries...
